Answers to common requests for information :

What are the Chambrelan thickness tolerances ?
  • The general manufacturing tolerances of slides and guidance rails are in accordance with the JS13 standard.
  • We take up these tolerances by fitting different diameters of ball bearings.
  • Chambrelan slides and rails are submitted to strict checks.

  • How do you determine the reference most adapted to the task-specific list ?
  • Please use the helper. If you meet any problems , contact us.

  • What do you do if our standard range is not suitable ?
  • Data on technical tables corresponds to common applications.
  • The Chambrelan team remains at your disposal to study and offer the solutions best adapted to your needs.

  • What is a special environment ?
  • Mounted on an uneven surface
  • Abrasive environments
  • Excessive heat ( > 100° C )
  • etc

  • What do you do when your application needs a vertical mounting ?
  • For this type of application, we advise you to use linear rails. When you use telescopic slides in an upright or inclined application, you get a loss of extension . Their ball cages shift downwards because of gravity.
There are technical solutions ... contact us.

  • Why do you choose the nitruration surface treatment ?
  • For its resistance to wear: 50 HRC into the surface. (Increased hardness of ball tracks )
  • For its resistance to corrosion.

When you have a high level of use, we advise you to use slides with nitruration surface treatment.

Answers to requests for information on telescopic slides

What do you do if the drawer is difficult to move ?
    Check :
  • The slides one by one : by manual opening
  • The evenness of the bearing faces on fixed and mobile parts
  • The parallelism of the slides on fixed and mobile parts

  • What do you do if the drawer is difficult to open ?
  • This is caused by a mounting problem.

  • What do you do if the drawer loses extension ?
    Check :
  • The evenness of the bearing faces
  • The parallelism of the slides

NB : you may put the slides back into the initial position by opening them sharply several times in succession to regain the extension.

  • What do you do if a locking drawer doesn't lock ?
  • Check the bevelling of the slides; the extension of one slide can interfere with the other.

  • What do you do if the lock doesn’t engage ?
    Check :
  • The slides one by one : by manual opening and by engaging the lock
  • The bevelling of the slide: the extension of a slide can hamper the locking of another one

  • What do you do if you have to mount a drawer in an oven ?
  • Our standard slide in stock can withstand temperatures up to 60°C.
  • For mountings in hot enclosed spaces or furnaces, the maximum temperature we recommend is 250°C. In this case, we have to adapt the slides , on the one hand, by removing the possible non-metal elements, and, on the other hand, by installing, a very free mounting allowing the expansion of the various parts without blocking the slides.
Please specify this detail when placing your order.

NB : over 150°C, zinc starts blistering and coming off. Other solutions must be considered. Please ask for advice.

  • What are the rules for a good mounting ?

Rules for a good mounting are simple :

  • Use all the fixing drillings
  • Follow the parallelism and the bevelling of the slides
  • Make sure the bearing areas are even

By following these mounting rules, you will get a smooth and regular movement of the slides. A resistance to opening or closing indicates an incorrect mounting . In case of incorrect mounting, the life span of the slides will be reduced.

  • Can the standard extension be modified ?
  • The Chambrelan range is composed of 2, 3 and 4 beam slides with any extension up to 150% of the closed length. The extension can be increased or decreased by adapting the length of the ball tracks.

  • Which kind of surface treatments are used on Chambrelan slides ?

The standard surface treatment applied on Chambrelan slides is zinc plated steel . Its average endurance is 250 hours in salt spray.

Other or extra treatments can be carried out :

  • Organo-mineral finish on zinc plating (withstands salt spray for 500 hours)
  • Nitruration

  • White, black or olive green zinc plating

  • What temperature can a standard slide withstand ?
  • Standard working temperatures are between - 40° and + 60° . Beyond these temperatures, adaptations can be made. Contact us.

  • Why does Chambrelan produce a reinforced range ?
  • For extreme conditions of use, or heavy loads, we offer you a range of reinforced slides. They can absorb twisting effects. Reinforced slides are specially recommended when there is a torque or when there is a mounting on a minor axis.
  •
What does the load capacity indicated on technical tables mean ?
  • Standard load capacities are given for a pair of slides, in the opened position, mounted oin the major axis, with a uniformly distributed load. Be careful: with a mounting on the minor axis, load capacity is reduced by 40%.

  • What do you do if the environment is dirty ?
  • Chambrelan slides come without a protection device or system against dust, particles, etc.
  • There is a risk that the presence of impurities in the tracks may rapidly cause jamming or blocking, and, thus, premature wear of slides.
  • Consequently, it is important to allow the slides to be installed in a protected area or to find the necessary protection solutions at the time of the system design.

  • Do Chambrelan slides need specific maintenance ?
  • Chambrelan slides have been designed to function with a minimum maintenance. Slides are lubricated in house with a grease for intensive use. It allows an optimum life span.
In case of hard conditions of use (corrosive environment, intensive use ...) we advise a regular and systematic maintenance of the slide.

  • What is the maximum speed of use for Chambrelan slides ?
  • The maximum speed is 0.25m per second.

Answers to requests for information on linear slides

What is the maximum length of a linear rail ?
  • The maximum length of linear rails is 3 metres. To increase this length, rails can be mounted next to each other with a straight cut or an oblique cut.

  • How calculate the maximal travel within the rail ?
  • It corresponds to the length of the rail, from which you subtract the runner length and the place of the end stop.

  • Are linear rail drilled ?
  • Drillings in linear rails are only done at a customer's request. Fixing of linear rails is possible thanks to standard or specific drillings. The pitch or number of drillings can be adapted to your used conditions.

  • How do you to choose the right runner for the right rail ?
  • We advise you to choose long runners for heavier loads and short runners for lighter loads.

  • Is an end stop for transportation a standing end stop ?
  • Linear rails are delivered with transport end stops to prevent the runner from leaving the rail. Be careful: a temporary end stop can't be used as a permanent end stop.

  • How many runners per rail must you put in ?
  • Two runners per linear rail are enough to withstand the load.
In case of a lack of rigidity of the structure, you can add some runners to the rail.

  • How can you choose the rail reference adapted to your application ?

When you order, please indicate :

  • The linear rail reference and the length you need.
  • The runner reference and how many runners you need.
