Lubrication of CHAMBRELAN drawer slides and guide rails?

Lubrication of CHAMBRELAN telescopic slides and guide rails?

Does your project incorporate our telescopic slides or guide rails? Perhaps you have read our blog to help you choose which of these two products is best suited to your mounting?

And now you would like to issue a maintenance plan to optimize the quality of your system!

First of all, it is essential to use the Chambrelan telescopic slide or linear rail that suit your conditions of use.

For example :

  • Cold drawn rail slides for industrial applications subject to constraints,
  • Reinforced slides to support mounting with torques,
  • Nitriding in case of vibrations or high number of cycles,
  • Rolled rails for simpler applications such as interior design,
  • Aluminium guides in case of weight constraints or corrosion…

Any doubt, any question? Please contact us!

Then, to optimise the service life of our CHAMBRELAN range of telescopic and linear guides, you have followed our mounting rules:

  • Telescopic slides to be mounted in pairs,
  • Parallelism between the guides,
  • major axis mounting,
  • Load evenly distributed over the moving part,
  • The distance between two slides is respected (maximum 2 metres),
  • Attachment to the entire interface of the slide or runners,
  • Grease the raceways thoroughly after mounting.

In order to use our guides optimally, it is essential to clean, lubricate and maintain them regularly!

CHAMBRELAN offers telescopic slides and linear guide rails already greased! But if you need a specific grease according to your environment or if you are looking for a solution to increase the lifetime of our slides and rails, follow the guide! This is where it happens!

1 – Greasing

  • General case

CHAMBRELAN delivers its entire range of linear or telescopic guides lightly greased. Whether in aluminium, stainless steel or galvanised steel, our telescopic slides and guide rails are supplied with grease adapted to each product.

For example, we use a high-pressure bearing grease for the zinc-plated steel references, and a white grease for telescopic and linear rails made of anodised aluminium and stainless steel. In the standard version they are greased and withstand temperatures from -20° to +80°.

NOT SUITABLE FOR FOOD AND CLEAN ROOM ENVIRONMENTS

We are able to offer specific greases according to the application or environment of our slides

  • Grease for food environments and clean rooms

In some environments such as the food industry, clean rooms, laboratories, medical and pharmaceutical environments … the use of telescopic slides or stainless steel linear guides is essential! Indeed, these sectors are subject to strict hygiene requirements in order to combat the proliferation of bacteria and mould! On stainless steel slides, dirt will not stick to them. What’s more, the material is easy to clean!

This is why, in order to adapt to these constraints, CHAMBRELAN offers a food grease compatible with these different environments!

The grease we use does not stain, does not stick and withstands a much higher temperature range: -20° to +150°!  Moreover, it is approved “NSF CATEGORY 1”.

NB: NSF is an international organisation that guarantees safety in food environments.

  • Grease WITHOUT TEFLON

For some environments, such as paint booths for example, Teflon-free grease is indispensable! This is because Teflon prevents paint from adhering properly to surfaces! This grease is therefore indispensable if you have to design this type of project!

  • Grease for extreme temperatures

If you are planning to use our CHAMBRELAN telescopic slides and/or linear guide rails in an oven, or any other environment requiring a high temperature (+ 80°), please let us know! Indeed, we will adapt our slides at the factory, both in terms of fittings and expansion clearance, and in terms of grease…

Below or above our standard range -20°C to +80°C, we offer specific greases that can withstand temperatures from -65° to +1200°!

Hence the importance of consulting us about the temperature range for your project!

Attention, our aluminium Chambrelan references, whether rails or slides, are not suitable for temperatures above 180° (and using a specific grease to reach this limit)!

  • Grease free

You will also have the possibility, if necessary for your application, to request our grease-free slides. Although this is not recommended! Indeed, slides and rails require lubrication for proper functioning and correct sliding! We recommend always greasing the runners thoroughly after mounting our products.

To conclude, CHAMBRELAN manufactures all its linear and telescopic rails with optimised greases but we are also able to adapt our products to the specific conditions you encounter.

2 – MAINTENANCE

A – Cleaning and lubrication

To guarantee an optimum service life of our CHAMBRELAN guide systems and slides, we recommend regular cleaning and lubrication of our telescopic slides and linear rails! Especially in case of intensive use!

In industrial environments, dust and particles can get into the ball bearing races. The balls then hit the obstacle in question and prevent them from sliding! For telescopic slides, we are not able to supply kits for cleaning the slides; we recommend that you regularly maintain your systems by degreasing and greasing the raceways of the telescopic slides and guide rails.

It may be necessary to add covers to protect the projection of unwanted bodies.

However, for some rails, wipers can be installed in order to push impurities out of the raceways and thus improve the functioning of the product!

Do not hesitate to ask us about this at the time of your consultation!
